Travel for some may mean an escape from the normal routine or a nice time away from home. For me, it is all about exploring places and more importantly getting to know myself. Travel is a medium that makes me calmer, humbler and happier.
A little introduction is always nice. So, if you ask about my ASL, then it is 24/F/New Delhi. I am a software engineer by chance and a traveller by choice. I have been born and brought up in a middle class Indian family where I have not been taught about living and travelling alone. I have been to a lot many places with family or friends but I have never had a solo trip so far. This brings me to my travel resolution for 2016 – a solo trip all by myself. Being a mountain person, the place I have shortlisted to visit is Ladakh, India. I have been to this place two years back and it was nothing less than a dream. Awe-inspiring locations, oh-so-pretty landscapes, delicious food, NH-1D, beautiful monasteries and warm people are the reasons I would like to visit Ladakh again.
I resolute to get out of my cubicle, take a backpack filled with my camera, pepper spray, a novel, a diary and few clothes along with little money in order to gift myself a journey of a lifetime. The itinerary I intend to follow for my 7 days trip is to start from New Delhi and fly to Srinagar, book a cab from Srinagar to Leh through NH-1D via Sonamarg, Dras and Kargil. It would then be followed by visits to local places, markets, Nubra valley, Pangong Lake along with moments of sitting and just looking at the mountains.
I expect myself to come out as an elated achiever after the trip with incredible memories to have for the rest of my life. It may not mean much for some but for me, completion of this particular item from my bucket list for 2016 will make me much more confident of myself and will also give me a sense of comfort towards my country where I can roam around freely without having any second thoughts about being a solo girl traveller.
